Employers cutting remote, hybrid work from tech job ads
Tech job ads offering remote and hybrid work dipped below 20%, with employers potentially offering the perk privately.
Decline in Remote Work Ads
The percentage of tech job ads mentioning remote or hybrid work has declined from over 25% in August 2022 to below 20% in July and August of this year. This indicates a shift in how employers are presenting these options, with some choosing to offer them privately instead.
Reasons for Reduced Remote Work Options
Employers may be reversing work-from-home options and pushing for more in-office attendance. Additionally, while some still offer remote work, they may be more selective about who receives this flexibility. This reflects a broader trend where large employers express concerns about productivity and collaboration when many employees work remotely.
Current Remote Work Statistics
Despite the decline in job ads mentioning remote work, the current levels are still significantly higher than pre-COVID-19 times, where only 4% of tech job ads included work-from-home options. As of August and September 2022, about 27.5% of private sector workers were either fully remote or hybrid.
